Watch: Tricky forest cobra catch for Richards Bay snake handler

A feisty 2m cobra put up a daring fight before being safely relocated by a seasoned snake handler.

Last Saturday, Richards Bay snake catcher Peter ‘Daring’ Daniel captured a large forest cobra inside a tent at a caravan park in Richards Bay.

Zululand Observer reports that the 2m female proved feisty and resisted being bagged, but was eventually caught and taken to a safer environment.

Daniel says this is the 13th specimen he has encountered in a season that has hardly begun.

Forest cobras are highly venomous (neurotoxic) and can grow to lengths of over 3m.
