WATCH: Tricky forest cobra catch for Richards Bay snake handler

Feisty 2m forest cobra caught inside a tent at caravan park in Richards Bay

We were warned that snakes are on the move because of the warmer weather, and that has proven to be an understatement.

On Saturday, Richards Bay snake catcher Peter ‘Daring’ Daniel captured a large forest cobra inside a tent at the caravan park.

The 2m female proved feisty and resisted being bagged but eventually was caught and taken to a safer environment.

Peter reports that this is already the 13th specimen he has encountered in a season that has hardly begun.

Forest cobras are highly venomous (neurotoxic) and can grow to lengths of over 3m.

Contact Peter on 076 0516429 or Fred Lubbe on 066 2433377 for snake emergencies.
