Where is the spirit of ubuntu?

FOURWAYS - Bonnie van Vuuren says we have lost the spirit of ubuntu

Bonnie van Vuuren writes;

I would like to mention an incident that took place at a large chain store in Fourways Mall on 13 August.

This particular shop was having problems with their cashless banking facilities and as a result many people had to go and withdraw cash to pay for their goods purchased, and it did take sometime and was a bit of an inconvenience.

My complaint, however is not with the shop but the rude uncooperative female customer who was very angry and unfriendly towards the management team who were under enough duress already. We were all inconvenienced by the situation not just her, but no good can come of being nasty, unpleasant and hurling abuse at the poor staff who have to work under these circumstances.

I stood up to her on behalf of the staff and she was equally aggressive towards me. I gave it straight back to her then hugged the manageress who was looking pretty haggard at that time of the day.

Here we have a team of people, most of whom, have to get up in the early morning to catch taxis to work from wherever they stay and work till late hours of the evening and then still put up with this abhorrent behaviour. Honestly madam if you are reading this letter, where is the spirit of ubuntu I ask myself? I hope I have pricked your conscience. Maybe you should realise that your anger emanates out and affects all around you and no good can come of it. Instead of sending out hatred and negativity try a bit of love and compassion instead. This is what our Rainbow Nation so desperately needs right now.
