Welcome to Siba’s table
BROADACRES - Food editor turns tables around for her new Food network show
In the serenity of Buitengeluk in Broadacres, a new star was born.
Celebrity chef, Siba Mtongana’s first series for Food Network was launched at the venue with a clear message.
She is South Africa’s next big star.
Her show Siba’s Table will start airing later in September in more than 90 countries throughout Africa, Europe, the Middle East and in the United Kingdom.
Mtongana creates a vibrant and mouth-watering explosion of flavour as she draws upon the buzzing restaurant scene in South Africa, her childhood influences, and her time as a food editor for a weekly magazine, to wow the taste buds of friends and family.
Set against the backdrop of Table Mountain, her fabulous kitchen becomes the focal point of each episode.
Nick Thorogood of Scripps Networks which produces the show said, “Siba’s Table is the perfect union of ideas, tips, and inventive inspiration. Her show gives her traditional childhood recipes a completely modern twist and an injection of international flavour.”
Thorogood’s colleague, Sue Walton added, “We were delighted to sign Siba to Food Network and are very excited about the launch of her first series. She is a hugely charismatic talent, and I have no doubt that Siba’s Table will engage audiences with her contemporary dishes inspired by South Africa and beyond.”
Television is not new for the food enthusiast. Mtongana was able to bring style and charisma to the hugely popular cooking show, Cooking with Siba on MNet’s Mzansi Magic.
“I mix traditional recipes with modern influences,” she said, adding that this was born from the idea of always cooking for her mother, where something familiar would meet something new.
