Siblings vie for tennis title

BRYANSTON - Battle for tennis title hots up.

Their annual tennis championship and made history when two brothers ended up battling it out in the men’s final.

The club has been running since 1972 and this was the first year in its history that two brothers ended up playing each other in a championship.

Paul Anderson was the favourite to retain the title, but younger brother Andy Anderson was keen to prove his prowess after he joined the club shortly before this year’s championship.

In the end experience was the deciding factor. Paul Anderson beat Andy Anderson 6-3, 6-1 in an extraordinary display of power tennis.

In the ladies singles final ex-professional player, Gaynor Harris beat a determined Zelda Zmook, who was the previous year’s champion.
