First-time runner tackles Dainfern College Daredevil Run for men’s cancer awareness
Sean Henning steps out of his comfort zone in peak-hour traffic to support prostate and testicular cancer checks.
Sean Henning signed up for his first Daredevil Run for a cause he believes is worth stepping outside his comfort zone for: raising awareness about prostate and testicular cancer.
Henning volunteered to take part in the 5km run at Dainfern College recently, admitting that his fitness levels might be a challenge.

“I’m not very fit, so the first half should be okay, but the second half is going to be entertaining in peak-hour traffic,” he said.
Despite his concerns about the distance, Henning said he was looking forward to a fun day in support of a good cause, adding that one has to make sacrifices for a good cause.
Although he had not participated in the event before, Henning said he was encouraged to get involved after learning what the run stood for.
“I saw the cause that it’s about, and my wife had a little role to play by letting me know that this is happening. So, yeah, I was open to it,” he said.
The Daredevil Run encourages men and boys to wear Speedos and take part in runs to raise awareness about prostate and testicular cancer, while encouraging men to prioritise their health and get checked regularly.

Henning said he undergoes annual check-ups, noting that while it is not always comfortable, it is necessary.
For Henning, taking part was an opportunity to support an important cause while encouraging others to take their health seriously.
