In response to your article in the Fourways Review, One road, different speeds.
I would like to add my 10c worth. I sent an email to the municipality (and cc’ed Annette Deppe) exactly two years ago complaining about this exact problem [on Maxwell Drive]. As well as the fact that drivers are coming from Kyalami/Woodmead, driving on Maxwell Drive and illegally turning right into Vanderbijl Road where the faded sign shows two lanes moving straight over and one lane turning right. Unfortunately drivers are using the one “straight” lane to turn right which causes obstruction, as well as keeping drivers at a standstill because they now have to wait for drivers illegally turning right.
I have, on three occasions, even stopped and spoken to Metro police who usually speed trap on Vanderbijl Road to move to Maxwell Drive and pull the offenders over for illegal turning, as well as speeding. As per usual nothing has ever been done.
I explained the problem to the councillor [Annette Deppe]. Let’s believe the municipality will use our hard-earned tax money to resolve this problem. I believe a can of paint and the labour for the road signs cannot be more than R100 and the correction of the speed signs cannot be more than R400, a total of R500.
