Fourways on the decline

Carol Molefe writes: I live with my daughter and partner in Beverley.

We love the area as it has all we need in terms of lifestyle, safety and easy access to the highways. For the first time over the past five years, there has been a massive deterioration in the cleanliness of some areas in the Fourways area.

The one major area of concern is the stretch from the Witkoppen bridge to the corner of Mulbarton, most especially the corner of William Nicol Drive and Sunset Boulevard.

The area is filthy, litter all over the place, street vendors and a taxi rank of some sort seems to be developing there. It looks like downtown Joburg. I am a black person and understand very much the need for people to earn a living, but there is a place for everything. People in this area pay high rates, have properties worth millions, and we have tourists visiting this area all the time.

There seem to be no plans to do anything about it, well as far as I know anyway.
