Dainfern College pupil shines bright
DAINFERN – The five pillars of Dainfern College education are academics, cultural arts, sport, service and leadership; and students are encouraged to embrace every opportunity on offer at the college across all disciplines – head boy, Kieran Bergh, is an outstanding example of each.
Bergh’s high school years are testament to his all-round excellence and he has achieved top honours in every sphere.
One of the school’s top academics, Bergh achieved honours in academics in both Grade 11 and Grade 12.
In the sports arena, Bergh proved to be a talented tennis player, achieving full colours as well as winning the school’s singles, doubles and mixed doubles titles.
He was also the first head boy in the history of the college to achieve Leadership Honours in recognition of his immense contribution.
Bergh’s achievements in the cultural sphere include honours for public speaking and full colours for debating, chess and performing arts, which then qualified him for cultural honours.
He then received the college’s top honour – the Red Blazer – and was the recipient of the Arthur Dean Trophy, awarded to the student who has made the most of every opportunity at the college.
Bergh plans to study politics, philosophy and economics at the University of Cape Town next year and his overriding ambition is to learn more about the world and his place within it in order to make a difference.
Bergh explained that he hoped to use the leadership skills he has learned at school to enable him to be a force for positive change in the world.
