76 creches from Diepsloot in one huge Christmas party

DIEPSLOOT - Over 1 500 children from 76 creches in Diepsloot were treated to a Christmas party with lucky packets and hot dogs, organised by The Family Africa Charity on 26 November.

The charity has been working in Diepsloot since 1998, focusing on families living with HIV/Aids or TB, and orphans. Its centre is in Diepsloot Ext 2 next to the fire station, where projects run 52 weeks a year.

The children enjoyed being entertained by stilt walkers and jugglers, magic shows and the international dance troupe, Triple Fusion.

Each crèche also received a hamper of goodies. Family Africa has run these Christmas parties every year since 2003.

Chairperson of the charity, Rachel Aird said, “This is our biggest one yet as the Diepsloot Creche Forum asked us to include as many crèches as we could. Every year we plan it, not knowing where the money is going to come from. This is now a tradition in Diepsloot and we feel we cannot let the children down as they all really enjoy it!”
