First music video for Diepsloot artist

DIEPSLOOT – Artist on the rise, King Durrie, said the time to make a music video for his single is long overdue.<

A Diepsloot-based artist dreams of making it big after shooting his first music video due to come out later in December.

Twenty-four-year-old Wise Ngwenya, known better as King Durrie has been in the music scene professionally for two years. His first single, Dream On was played on various local radio stations when it was released in 2018.
His second studio track, Levels will be released with a video.

Ngwenya has been in music since the age of 21 but started taking his career seriously a year later.
“I was inspired by one of my friends named K-Smash to start music professionally. He had a studio at his place, and I would go there over the weekends and record stuff.

“We got a studio in Cosmo City in 2018 which made our sound much better. From 2013 to 2018 we were making music, but it was more as practice. Even though we had music before, the quality was not great. Since I released my single, we went our separate ways to record our own tracks,” he said.

He described his music as something to inspire the youth as opposed to ‘music that shows off what you have’. He said his genre leans to trap, hip-hop and rap.
“I talk about real life and starting to do music. All the things I struggled with to get where I am now. I don’t like to rap and make music about fame and money.”

Ngwenya has his own production company, Grind Entertainment under which he releases his singles. He was approached by Sisco Lee Productions six months ago who offered him sponsorship for him to start shooting his music videos and for marketing.

“I am always pushing to put Diepsloot on the map. It has been difficult to start my career so that is why I’m constantly reaching out to people and companies. It was getting difficult only releasing music with no videos for them.”
With the Covid-19 pandemic, Ngwenya said the one project of his that was held back was the release of his new EP, In the City, but he was hopeful it would come out at the end of December.

“I’m still young, so my dream is to help others out there on their journey of doing music, who were just like me. Maybe some who don’t know how or where to start. Once the music video is ready, it will be available on YouTube, but I want to also submit it to Channel O.”
