Fleeing suspect caught by police

DIEPSLOOT – Information given by an informer on the suspect’s movements aided police in the arrest of a murder suspect in Pretoria.

Diepsloot police arrested a 25-year-old man for murder on 15 April at a bus station in Pretoria as he was about to board a bus to Eastern Cape.

The suspect allegedly stabbed a 33-year-old man to death on 2 April after an argument in Diepsloot Ext 1.

Spokesperson for the Diepsloot Police Station, Captain Tinyiko Mathebula said the suspect fled to Daveyton soon after he allegedly committed the crime.

“An informer kept the investigating officer up to date with the suspect’s movements. The police operationalised the information as received from the informer and proceeded to Pretoria where the suspect had planned to board a bus to Eastern Cape,” he added.

He appeared in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on 19 April and was remanded in custody.
