Awareness raised about GBV

DIEPSLOOT – Community members were told of the various resources made available for them should they be in a situation of gender-based violence.

Officers from Diepsloot Police Station hosted an awareness campaign on 1 June at OR Tambo Clinic in Ext 2 on matters regarding gender-based violence and femicide (GBVF).

Spokesperson for the Diepsloot Police Station, Captain Tinyiko Mathebula explained that pamphlets were distributed to community members with information on who to contact in an emergency as well as safety tips.

“The police interacted with men and women around the clinic urging them to take a stand against gender-based violence and femicide and domestic violence,” he said.

“Community members were encouraged to condemn these crimes and ensure that perpetrators are reported to the police.”
