Beaulieu hockey players named in South African indoor hockey squads

Former Beaulieu College and a few current Beaulieu Hockey Academy players are ready to push the ball forward for their country.

Several Beaulieu College alumni were selected to represent South Africa in the men’s and women’s indoor hockey teams.

Beaulieu alumni Malikah Hamza and Sarah Paget will play for the SPAR South African women, and Dalpiarro Langford, Phemelo Ramatlotlo, Aiden Tun and Rusten Abrahams will line up in the men’s team.

The teacher in charge of hockey at Beaulieu College Liz Ashmore said, “I’m sure this achievement is unmatched. This certainly provides a huge motivation for our current players and inspires them to emulate their former teammates’ accomplishments.”
The women’s indoor squad rose to sixth on the world indoor hockey rankings following their semi-final run in the FIH International Hockey Federation Indoor Hockey World Cup in Pretoria earlier this year.

From the squads selected, Test teams will be selected for various series over the next 12 months.
In a press release on the South African Hockey Association website, acting CEO of SA Hockey Shaun Baaitjies said, “The SPAR South Africa Indoor Hockey team took us to new heights at the FIH Indoor Hockey World Cup in Pretoria. We are excited to see their continued growth on the global stage as they look to raise the bar even higher and contest at the business end of the tournament on a consistent basis.
