Comrades get together for the annual aches and pains party

Striders Running Club celebrated the bravery of their team members after running the Comrades.

Sunninghill Striders Running Club hosted its annual Aches and Pains event on June 24 to celebrate runners of the Comrades Marathon, at Gilroys in Sunninghill.

“We host this event for everyone who ran the Comrades then get sponsors for shirts and motivate everyone to wear them with their finishing medals at the party. So everyone gets to catch up and share their ‘war’ stories of running the Comrades,” said the chairwoman of the club, Mariska Venter.

“I enjoyed listening to everyone’s stories and laughing together. It was a good sunny afternoon, with a beer and talking about something we all love – running. I am even convinced to run my first Comrades next year.”
