Lonehill residents run for good cause

Togetherness brings change to the Lonehill community through a charity fun run hosted on Saturday, July 22.

For the past 21 years, Lonehill Residents Association (LRA) has hosted The Otter Family Charity Challenge and it has been going from strength to strength with the support of Crawford International Lonehill.

This year was no different and thousands of participants and more than 300 spectators joined the 5km Fun Run on July 22.

The marketing and communications officer of LRA, Shelley Miller was left with a heart full of gratitude for the support from the community.

“The community came out in their 1 000s to support this event and we are extremely grateful to our sponsors and the community for showing their support and interest.”

The intentions behind this year’s charity fun run were to revamp the kiddies park in Lonehill and they are doing exactly that.

“The spirit on the route was fantastic. Discovery had a photo frame opportunity, the LRA handed out water at the watering holes and Crawford Prep Marimba Band was ‘pumping’ out the sounds outside the school. People were invited to ‘have a break, have a kit-kat’. From start to finish the park was buzzing with great vibes, music, and John Walland as MC who is also a Lonehill resident.”

Cheers for the fun run.

The event was followed by a short prize-giving to the top three runners in six categories and lots of fantastic lucky draw prizes sponsored by Lonehill business owners. “A huge shout and thanks to our amazing community and sponsors.”
