With a target of preparing 427 festive tubs for those in their care, the organisation is calling on the compassionate spirit of the community to help ensure that no one in their care is left without a gift this Christmas.

Founded in 2016, Wings of Inspiration started as a single home dedicated to providing support for the elderly. Over the years, they have expanded to operate multiple facilities, including four frail care centres, a women and children’s shelter, a daycare, a playschool, a recovery centre, and a dog rescue operation.
This expansion has allowed them to support a diverse group of residents, many of whom lack family support or have relatives facing difficult circumstances.
“The inspiration for this drive came from our desire to keep the Christmas spirit alive in the hearts of our residents. Amid their struggles, we want them to feel loved and to know that they matter. We aim to ensure that each person feels the joy of unwrapping a gift on Christmas morning,” said Gerda Bekker, the general manager of Wings of Inspiration.
This is not the first year Wings of Inspiration has undertaken this heartfelt initiative. Year after year, they have diligently worked to provide gifts for their residents, striving to maintain the tradition that began shortly after their inception. “The joy on their faces when they receive a present is priceless,” Bekker shared.

To meet the ambitious target of 427 tubs, each containing essential items, clothing, and a few surprises, Wings of Inspiration is reaching out for community assistance. Each contribution will help spread warmth and compassion during a time that can be particularly challenging for those less fortunate.

Donations can also be dropped off at 301 Quorn Drive, Northriding, or arrangements can be made for collection. The deadline for donations is set for the first to the second week of December.

“This season is about giving, and we invite everyone to join us in making a difference. Together, we can ensure that each resident feels the love and warmth of the community during this festive time,” Bekker added.
