Residents and outdoor enthusiasts gathered at Chilli on Top Centre on October 3 to celebrate Safari Outdoor’s move to its new premises.

The business moved to its new premises earlier in the week, hosting a soft opening before launching its main weekend celebration. Safari Outdoor Rivonia manager Leandré Coetzer said the move had been a significant undertaking but was worthwhile. “We are actually so blessed. We thought it was going to be much harder. It was a lot of work, but definitely worth it. When you see the store and you see what actually came out of it, it’s so worth it,” said Coetzer.

She said the move was driven by the opportunity to provide customers with an upgraded store in a location that better suited the business. “I think it was just time for a new upgrade, new store, new location, a little bit more upmarket. It fits nicely with the environment,” she said.

According to Coetzer, the new store offers a warmer and more welcoming environment while continuing to cater to Safari Outdoor’s broad customer base. “We like to say that we are different from the rest. We are not just a gun shop. We like to offer everybody, the whole family, something,” she said.

The store caters to outdoor enthusiasts, hunters, sports shooters and those interested in the safari and outdoor lifestyle, while also offering clothing, accessories and products aimed at different members of the family.

Coetzer said the store stocks everything from firearms and optics to outdoor clothing and products for children. “If you think outdoor lifestyle, luxury safari, that is Safari Outdoor, but it’s also for the marksman, huntsman and sportsman,” she said.

Coetzer said they also offer training through the Safari Outdoor Training Centre, with programmes aimed at both first-time and experienced firearm owners. The store also offers competency-related training and dedicated-status training, as well as various talks and activities.

The Safari Outdoor Shooting Club provides an opportunity for sport shooters to participate in regular shooting activities, with Coetzer noting that people who are new to shooting can also become involved.
The new store also offers a reloading service for customers who want to reload their own ammunition but do not yet have the equipment to do so.

The opening celebration was designed as a family event, with entertainment including live music, face painting, a mechanical bull, a money-grabber machine, food stalls and activations from suppliers.

Local resident Karl Tameris welcomed the new store and its move to the area. “This is amazing. It’s got a good vibe. It’s exciting for them. It’s a new store, new beginnings, new opportunities and hopefully for them, more money,” said Tameris.

The opening specials are available in-store until October 4, while stocks last, and subject to the applicable terms and conditions.

The new Safari Outdoor Rivonia store is situated at Chilli on Top Centre, 721 Leeuwkop Road, on the corner of Rivonia Road.
