Bomber knocks out Anthony Morel for EFC Heavyweight gold
The fighter credited his sponsors for supporting him during a tough period, and expressed his desire to face Triple S Chikasa next, saying he needs to teach him: 'Manners and sportsmanship'.
Elvis ‘The Bomber’ Moyo delivered a knockout blow to the heavyweight division, stunning Anthony Morel into a verbal submission just two seconds into round four.
The crowd was left reeling as Moyo celebrated his massive win, becoming the new EFC Heavyweight Champion.
Moyo was more than ready for this fight, boasting about how well he knows his game. He knows very well that he is not the one to be messed with, and he says that works for him in the hexagon. “I’m a MMA specialist. I’m going to hit, punch, and pull moves on you. I’m going to defend to the best of my ability, but the difference is when I hit back. Most of these guys are not used to being hit, and punches make a difference with them on the other end. I’m used to being hit, but they are leaky punches. It’s just like they are petting me.

“I never do the strategy, but the preparations for this game were brutal. I was 154kg and I haven’t been below 130kg since my last fight in Switzerland. I ended up doing two sessions a day, seven days a week, for four weeks straight.”
He said the victory means a lot to him, and its long overdue after losing his title to Andrew van Zyl II, in what he calls a fluke. “He did his job. He was stubborn. He didn’t wanna go away, but the sponsors carried me through the most brutal six months. So, I dedicate this win to them and I really appreciate what they’ve done for me. They took me from a point zero to a point one hundred. I’m never going to 254 cases, even if lockdown comes, never. It’s not happening.”

Moyo weathered some tough grappling exchanges early in the game. When asked what his thought process was during those moments, he said: “The only way a MMA fighter can ever beat me is to grab me, take me to the ground, and do whatever they do. Other than that, they cannot beat me.
“I’ve been learning the theory of grappling and wrestling. Before, when they took me down, I panicked, and then I made mistakes, because I’m panicking, because I’m on the ground. So, my whole training was just me being on the ground and getting back to my feet until I was comfortable. I was smiling in the cage, just waiting for him to take me down so I could get back up.

“The only mistake he did, was that, whenever he took me down, he got so desperate because he was being hurt. He was trying to take me out with every elbow. He threw every punch he threw. So, every time I blocked that, it drained him a little bit.”
Now that Moyo is the new EFC Heavyweight Champion, he said he has one specific fighter on his radar. “I should be the target of everybody, but I don’t see many people being excited to target me. Triple S Chikasa was supposed to fight. He stepped up to my face. I said: ‘You know what? When I fight you, obviously, I’ll put my title in the line, because that’s how things are supposed to go’, but I just want to hit the boy. I want to teach him manners and sportsmanship.”
