Diepsloot Super Cup launches project to gather learning supplies for underprivileged children

As the Diepsloot Super Cup gears up for its 2026 U11 tournament, organisers are striving towards a bigger goal: To gather school supplies for local children who don’t have.

The Diepsloot Super Cup is making a big impact this year, both on and off the field.

As preparations begin for the U11 tournament on February 7, 2026, organisers have started a bigger project: A school donation drive to help children in Diepsloot get essential learning materials.

Coach Lucky Shabalala, who co-founded the Super Cup in 2024, says the goal has always been bigger than soccer. “We want to promote sports development, social unity, and youth empowerment, but we also aim to support children who have difficulty getting the basics they need for school.”

The donation drive seeks to collect school uniforms, books, stationery, backpacks, and other supplies for local children. The items will go to community organisations and schools to ensure they reach those in need.

Shabalala explained the importance of community support in making a difference. “People can help by donating, volunteering, or simply spreading the word.”

To contribute, contact coach Lucky Shabalala at 065 666 8724 or [email protected]. Alternatively, you could contact coach Simphiwe Jele at 078 905 2771 or [email protected].

“By combining sport and education, we can empower Diepsloot’s youth to dream bigger,” added Shabalala. “And to build a better future.”
