Eskom scheduled maintenance turns off lights in Fourways for the day

With essential maintenance being carried out, residents in Broadacres and parts of Lonehill are going to be in the dark for the rest of the day.

Residents and businesses in Broadacres and parts of Lonehill are temporarily in the dark after Eskom announced this week that electricity supply will be interrupted for maintenance on October 17.

The planned maintenance, scheduled from 08:30 to 18:00, is part of efforts to ensure the reliability and safety of the local power network.

“The interruption in electricity supply is necessary to perform essential maintenance on our distribution power lines,” Eskom said in a statement

Eskom also said that, in the interest of safety, residents are advised to treat all electrical appliances as live at all times during the power supply outage. “We would like to thank you for your co-operation and apologise for the inconvenience that may be caused by this maintenance.”

The community is advised to plan accordingly, as the outage may affect households, traffic systems, and local businesses throughout the day.
