Lonehill celebrates security excellence at Fidelity Guard of the year awards
Sydnery Mabusela was named Guard of the Year for going above and beyond to keep Lonehill safe at the Fidelity Lonehill Parade.
The Lonehill community came together on December 12 to celebrate the dedication, commitment and exceptional service of local security officers at the Fidelity Lonehill Parade, where the Guard of the Year Award was officially presented.
The initiative, launched earlier this year, was made possible through a partnership between Live Real Estate and the Lonehill Residents Association (LRA),with the support of Fidelity ADT.
The programme was designed to recognise security officers who consistently go beyond the call of duty to serve and protect the Lonehill community.

According to Shelly Miller from the Lonehill Residents Association, the idea was driven by a desire to acknowledge the often-unseen efforts of frontline security personnel.
“This award was created to honour a security officer who truly exemplifies the spirit of going beyond the call of service, someone whose dedication and commitment extend far past their defined role. Our guards play a critical role in keeping Lonehill safe, and it is important that they feel seen, valued and appreciated by the community they serve.”
The concept was first proposed by Lauren-Kate Fletcher of Live Real Estate, who approached Fidelity representatives earlier this year with the idea of establishing a monthly and annual recognition programme.
“Buyers looking to purchase in Lonehill are strongly attracted by the security and safety aspect that it provides – both for asset growth and family safety,” Fletcher explained.

“Initially, I wanted to encourage and recognise the officers who create such high demand for the Lonehill and Beverley lifestyle. But it grew into so much more when I witnessed how much it meant to the officers themselves to be recognised.”
Throughout 2025, nine security officers were honoured as Guard of the Month recipients, each recognised for outstanding service, professionalism and commitment.
From this group, Sydney Mabusela was ultimately selected as the Guard of the Year.
Miller said the decision was not an easy one, given the high calibre of nominees.

“While the field of nominees was exceptional, Sydney stood out not only for consistently meeting expectations, but for his unwavering dedication and passion for the Lonehill community. He is a shining example to his fellow officers.”
Fletcher added that while Fidelity’s commitment to safety has never been in question, the awards focus on acknowledging that commitment in a meaningful way.
“Commitment was never the issue. It was more about acknowledgement. To provide recognition not just from Fidelity, but from the community the officers serve, has encouraged pride, belonging and a much deeper sense of purpose in their day-to-day work.”
The recognition programme has already had a noticeable impact on morale among officers.
“By acknowledging their work publicly and having the community witness it, a strong bond has been created. It builds personal accountability and shows officers that the community truly sees them, which gives their work greater meaning,” added Fletcher.
