Carols in the Park set to brings festive magic to Lonehill
Lonehill’s most cherished festive tradition is back this December, promising music, magic, and a memorable night under the stars for the whole family.
The much-loved Carols in the Park celebration will light up Lonehill Park once again on December 6, offering residents an evening filled with festive cheer, music, and community spirit.
The annual event, now in its 17th year, has become a cornerstone of the greater Lonehill holiday calendar, drawing families, friends, and neighbours together for a night that captures the true essence of the season.
Tickets are officially on sale, with adults (13 and up) priced at R100 and children (12 and under) at R80. Organisers are urging the community to book early, as tickets traditionally sell out well before the event.

Shelley Miller, from the Lonehill Residents Association, said the tradition began as a modest local gathering, with the simple intention of bringing residents together during the festive season.

“Carols in the Park started as a small gathering 17 years ago, and it has grown into a tradition that our community looks forward to every year. Our purpose has always been to bring people together, celebrate the festive season, and create a warm, inclusive space where families can make lasting memories.”
This year’s event promises an atmosphere filled with excitement and festive magic. Families are encouraged to bring their picnic blankets and settle in for an evening under the summer sky.
Children will be treated to a lively play and craft area, hosted by Lonehill Pre-Primary and Preparatory, along with jumping castles and a specially planned Christmas show.
Father Christmas is also set to make a special appearance, adding to the wonder and joy for younger attendees.

As the sun sets, vocalist Andy Klee and saxophonist Tobi Odi will lead the traditional carol singing, setting the tone for a warm and spirited night of music.
Adding to the festive glow, a selection of light-up goodies and glowsticks will be on sale to illuminate the park and amplify the magic of the moment.
Food lovers will be spoilt for choice, with a wide range of vendors serving everything from hearty meals to sweet holiday treats. Miller emphasised that, beyond the entertainment, the purpose of Carols in the Park has always been centred on unity.
“It was born from a desire to celebrate the joy and warmth of the festive season together as a community. It’s a space where neighbours connect, families bond, and the true spirit of the season comes alive.”
