Valentine’s cheer adds sweet touch to Lonehill Parkrun

Runners, walkers and volunteers enjoyed a Valentine’s-themed Lonehill Parkrun, with sweet treats adding to the fun of the weekly 5km event.

The weekly Lonehill Parkrun brought runners, walkers and volunteers together once again this Saturday, with a touch of Valentine’s Day cheer adding to the community atmosphere.

The event was made possible by eight dedicated volunteers who ensured the 5km run continued to operate smoothly while encouraging participants to enjoy the morning outdoors.

“People can dress up if they want to and have fun rather than focusing on winning.”

Valand, who has volunteered more than 150 times, has also assisted at parkruns in Green Point, Cape Town, and Hamburg, before becoming part of the Lonehill event direction team.

He encouraged more community members to volunteer, noting the physical and social benefits linked to helping out at the event.
