Author turns survival into service with Slaying Cancer Together: Choose Life
From a heartfelt high tea in Fourways to a World Cancer Day showcase, Lindie Liebenberg is turning her stage 4 breast cancer journey into a powerful message of hope.
There are moments in life that stop you in your tracks, and Lindie Liebenberg created one of those at a high tea event at Norscot Manor.
The event in Fourways, organised by Renée Singh from Warriors with a Purpose, a non-profit organisation, saw Liebenberg, with her warm smile, infectious energy, and unflinching honesty, share her journey of battling stage 4 metastasised breast cancer.

Guests were not only moved; they wereo inspired, and Slaying Cancer Together: Choose Life, her autobiography, flew off the shelves like hotcakes. People didn’t just buy her book; they embraced her story, her courage, and her message of hope. And the story isn’t over yet. Liebenberg is taking her story this month to a larger audience, to celebrate World Cancer Day.
World Cancer Day is recognised every year on February 4 as a moment to honor the resilience and strength of every person affected by cancer.
“I have done lots of events,” said Liebenberg, “about 25 already, where I speak and share my story with my book. It’s always very emotional from the audience.”
She will be exhibiting Slaying Cancer Together: Choose Life, which has been making waves for its raw honesty, strength, and the comfort it offers to anyone affected by cancer
. What’s more, for every book sold, R50 will be donated toward cancer initiatives, a perfect blend of storytelling and giving back. “I seem to have taken it upon myself to inspire and motivate hope among newly diagnosed patients, survivors, and their supporters. This is my lived experience turned into purpose. Every moment is precious, unrepeatable, and a miracle.”

Since her diagnosis in 2019, Lindie has faced 54 chemotherapy sessions, 29 radiation treatments, a double mastectomy, lymph node surgery, and a laparotomy.
Today, she continues with daily chemo pills and two monthly injections, keeping her disease stable, even though remission hasn’t come. Her faith and positivity, however, remain unshaken. “We are all unique, but cancer and awareness bind us together. Every cancer experience and diagnoses is different. Behind each story is a human, a person, that needs care, understanding, and support. You are seen, remembered, and never alone.”
Amid these challenges, Liebenberg has celebrated immense joys: Welcoming five grandchildren, with a sixth on the way. “There is so much to be thankful for and so much to live for.”
The book also available on Amazon Kindle, Amazon Paperback, D2D eBook, and Takealot.
