Crushers captain opens up on the raw edge of LIV Golf
After clinching the Singapore title, Bryson DeChambeau pulled no punches about the ferocious competitive fire burning inside every LIV player, including his own teammates, while insisting compassion remains at the heart of the game.
Bryson DeChambeau, the larger-than-life captain of Crushers GC, didn’t mince words when said he is ready for the competition during a media briefing for the LIV Golf tournament at Steyn City on March 17.
This is following his recent dramatic playoff victory at LIV Golf Singapore.
The two-time major champion made it crystal clear that respect exists between teams and within squads, but the overriding instinct is pure, unrelenting desire to dominate. “No matter if it’s the Rippers or Southern Guards or Crushers and Smash or Four Aces, we all have a great respect for each other.

“Even if I want to beat the living crap out of everybody on my team here, and we all want the same, you know. I think that’s what makes it so great as a competitive landscape.”
He said that LIV Golf has injected a fresh, intense rivalry into the sport, without erasing golf’s traditional values. “This game is so deeply rooted in compassion. I think it’s valuable that we have the team aspect now out here in golf. We’re still individuals, playing to beat each other, so it’s a great balance that I think LIV Golf brings to the world.”
DeChambeau’s own victory came with a bittersweet twist. He was playing against Richard Lee in Singapore. Lee stood on the brink of history as the first wildcard to win on the LIV circuit, only to miss a short putt that handed DeChambeau the title. “Seeing him miss that putt was a shock to me. I personally don’t want to win that way. You want to go out with a 10-footer that you made to beat everybody. That’s what we all dream of doing, not being necessarily handed it.”

DeChambeau said LIV is more than just big cheques and bold formats; it’s a stage for human drama, fierce battles, and unexpected kindness. “I think there’s just a lot of great stories there that show, not only just how competitive it is, but the compassion we show for the game of golf in the world.”
