Ward 93 councillor Vino Reddy bows out of Ward 93 re-election bid with pride
A local councillor reflects on a life-threatening health scare that prompted his move to a proportional representation role.
Ward 93 councillor Vino Reddy will not stand for re-election at the end of his current term on November 4, following a recent life-threatening health scare.
During his first term, Reddy became a prominent voice on several community issues in Ward 93, including the removal of illegal advertising in the area and efforts to address the condition of Dennis Road in Lonehill. The road rehabilitation has proved challenging, but Reddy has continued to push the issue and advocate for improvements for residents.

He has also taken a hands-on approach to tackling illegal dumping. In one instance, Reddy stopped people he found allegedly dumping debris, requiring them to load the waste back into their vehicles rather than leave it at the site. These efforts, among others, have formed part of Reddy’s tenure as he sought to address issues affecting residents across the ward.
A life-threatening health scare prompted Reddy to pause and reconsider his future, leading to discussions with his political head and party leadership before he made the decision to turn down the Ward 93 candidacy. Instead, he will take on a broader, politically focused role as a proportional representation (PR) councillor. In this role, Reddy will represent his political party on the municipal council, having been elected through the proportional representation system. “This is not a step away from serving our community, but a change in how I will do so,” he said.
He confirmed that he would remain actively involved in local government and continue supporting Ward 93 and its residents. “I remain fully committed to serving you and ensuring the ward is in the best possible position for the future.”

Tracy Kensey is expected to take over as Ward 93 councillor following the upcoming election. “I’m genuinely excited for Tracy to take on this role,” Reddy said, adding that he would support her as she takes on the challenge.
Reddy described serving Ward 93 as one of the greatest honours of his life, and thanked residents for their support, encouragement, patience and friendship. “Your kindness and trust have meant more to me than you know.”
