Young cricketer impresses at tournament

BEAULIEU - Beaulieu Preparatory School Grade 4 pupil Connor Foley excelled at the annual Inter-Provincial Tournament for Action Cricket.

The tournament was held in Durban from 27 June to 2 July and is sanctioned by the South African Indoor Cricket Federation.

Provincial teams from all over South Africa participated, and Foley was selected for Central Gauteng, based in the Sandton Action Cricket Arena.

Foley played in the U10 age-group, and was awarded a trophy for Best Batsman after he scored 149 runs with an average of 21.29 from seven games. He was placed first in his age group and second overall, out of more than 400 players.

Foley’s Central Gauteng Cubs team was awarded silver.

He was also selected for the All Stars team, made up of the Top Ten U10 players from all provinces based on their overall batting and bowling performance at the tournament.

Foley was selected to play for the team from more than 80 U10 boys at the tournament. To be selected for the All Stars team is equivalent to be being selected for the South African U10 side and is a major achievement.
