Robotics team hits the world stage
FOURWAYS - Kayleigh Herrmann (14) and her team, JEK Theories won the South African National Robotic Olympiad.
JEK Theories will now go on to compete in the international leg of the competition in Indonesia in November.
Herrmann was born in Germany but now resides in Fourways with her family.
Hermann’s father, Arnd said his daughter had become involved with Lego education a few years ago and had quickly developed a talent for planning, designing, engineering and programming.
He said, “Kayleigh initially attended a course provided by Junior Engineers for Africa as a hobby but now her team and her have reached competition level.”
Herrmann is very excited to represent South Africa at an international level. She said, “Although we might not be able to win the championship we will certainly do our best to represent our country as well as we can.”
Herrmann and her team are appealing for sponsorship to enable them to attend the world championship in Indonesia.
