ANC stones DA busses enroute to We Can Win Concert – driver hospitalised
JOBURG- South Africa's two biggest political party's clash in Alexandra and Soweto.
Soweto is hosting two political rivals today, and violence was short on the heels of what is political party’ last shot to woo voters.
With thousands of ANC supporters heading to the national stadium just outside Soweto for the ANC Siyanqoba Rally, and DA democrats heading to Walter Sisulu Square in Kliptown for their We Can Win concert, the DA alleged ANC supporters started stoning their transport busses in Alexandra and near the FNB stadium.
One bus driver has been hospitalised after a stone shower hit his bus. Mmusi Maimane said three busses have thus far been badly damaged in the attacks.
“Police are interviewing hundreds of DA supporters who were the victims of ANC ambushes this morning,” Maimane said.
“The ANC are clearly panicking at the prospect of losing Gauteng. But there is no excuse for endangering the lives of our supporters,” he added.
The DA urged police to arrest the ‘thugs’ who were at the helm of the attacks.
So far it seems as if the DA is going ahead with their concert.
The Siyanqoba rally is set to air on various television channels today.
