Toy gun rapists arrested
DIEPSLOOT – Two men aged 20 and 23 have been arrested for rape after they allegedly used a toy gun to intimidate two women in Diepsloot in the early morning hours of 21 February.

“They forced the victims into an open veld where they took turns raping them,” confirmed Warrant Officer Daniel Mavimbela of Diepsloot Police Station.
The rapists then decided to return to a residence of one of the victims till dawn, where they allegedly agreed that no further intercourse would take place due to the victim’s children being present at the home.
“It is alleged that in the morning, the women managed to retrieve the door key from one of the suspect’s pockets,” continued WO Mavimbela. “They then locked the sleeping suspects inside the room before alerting police.”
The suspects were arrested along with 133 other suspected criminals within the Honeydew Police Cluster since 20 February. Diepsloot Police falls under the cluster which also includes Douglasdale, Randburg and Cosmo City Police.
“The two men will be charged with rape. The other suspects were arrested for crimes ranging from drunken driving, assault, fraud, sexual assault and attempted murder,” WO Mavimbela concluded.
All the suspects arrested over the weekend are expected to appear in the Randburg and Roodepoort Magistrate’s Courts soon.
