Bikers raise R30k for leukaemia patients
FOURWAYS - Bikers4Bandanas raised R30 000 on 11 October during a mass ride campaign to raise money for patients suffering from leukaemia and other life-threatening blood-related diseases.
“Bikers from all over Johannesburg came together and rode for a purpose. The race started in Boksburg and ended at Montecasino,” said Takalani Ramaphosa of The Sunflower Fund.
Ramaphosa said 250 bikers participated in the race this year, a turnout she hailed as impressive.
The ride is an annual event hosted by The Sunflower Fund in association with MOTHS Motorcycle Association and is held to raise awareness about Bandana Day and the plight of leukaemia and other blood-related diseases.
The Sunflower Fund is a non-profit organisation which aims to build the South African Bone Marrow Registry in the hope of saving lives.
All funds raised by The Sunflower Fund go toward the specialised DNA tissue type testing that may assist in finding a life-saving stem cell transplant for a patient who desperately needs one.
