Random act of kindness

PAULSHOF- Paulshof resident, Werner Booysen volunteered his truck and construction workers to collect residents' rubbish piling up on Amble Way and took it to the local dump site on 4 December.

“I just wanted to help clean up the street because the rubbish is a health hazard and people can get sick from it. I believe it was my duty to make our area clean,” Booysen expressed.

Booysen notified his fellow residents on Amble Way’s WhatsApp group, offering to collect everyone’s rubbish that had been outside for a couple of days.

“I suppose people expect more from older people as they are seen as more responsible. I just wanted to help regardless of my age,” he said.

Booysen and his workers started the first load at 8am, the second at 10am and the last load at 1pm.

“I believe that everyone wants to live in a clean and healthy environment, hence I offered to help,” Booysen concluded.

Amble Way residents actively responded to Werner’s offer via WhatsApp, with messages of gratitude and appreciation for his random act of kindness.
