Ward 93 councillor shares festive season wishes

PAULSHOF - Ward 93 councillor Annette Deppe shared her festive season message as she reflected on the eventful year.

“It seems quite unreal that another year has flown by and we are once again preparing ourselves for the end-of-year celebrations. Having been the Democratic Alliance (DA) councillor for Ward 93 for the past 10 years, it never ceases to amaze me how many people I have come into contact with during the year, and how many situations have presented themselves to me,” Deppe expressed.

“Many of the challenges we have faced together have been resolved through hard work, commitment and dedication, but an even more staggering number of challenges remain unsolved,” she said.

According to Deppe, next year is just around the corner and the indications are that it is set to be a momentous year for the community as it is an election year.

She added that it is a time for the residents to elect officials who will deliver on their promises, and improve the lives of all the citizens of the greater Fourways community.

Deppe added that, unfortunately, the City of Joburg is not in as positive a position as many of the community members think.

“We have been beset by maladministration in all spheres of local government and the challenges they face on a daily basis read like a litany of complaints such as burst water mains, leaking sewerage, load shedding, sky-rocketing bills and potholes on all the roads. The list is endless.

“But now is a time to reflect on all the good we have achieved and on the positive impact we have made on the lives of countless people with whom we have come into contact with. As a public representative for the DA, I am proud of our achievements and our ability to effect change where we can.

“I am even more proud of the interaction I have been able to have with so many of you. Thank you for putting your faith in me and for trusting me with your complaints, secure in the knowledge that I will do everything in my power to assist you.

“Thank you for your constructive criticism, for steering me in the right direction when problems have presented themselves. Without all your communication, phone calls and e-mails, I could not be the councillor I am today. Your constant communication with me is so appreciated.

“I would like to take this opportunity of wishing you and your loved ones a blessed festive season. May you all be inspired to contribute positively to those around you. May you be blessed with good health and happiness, and may next year be a year in which we come together as a community and celebrate true democratic rule in the community.

“If you are going away, please drive safely. If you are staying at home, enjoy the family time with your loved ones.”
