A Grade 5 Crawford Fourways School pupil will be flying to the United States on 15 July to represent South Africa at the International Talent Showcase.
Natasha Huang (11) will be accompanied by her mother Fung Zhang, and could not hide her excitement as she spoke of her achievement to Fourways Review.
“I do modelling, acting, dancing and singing. I was chosen by Just You Model and Artist Management agency after some auditions,” said the confident Huang.
After auditioning through the local agency, Huang was nominated by an American-hired agency, Kim Myers, to be one of many South African children participating in the contest in America.
Huang stands to win advertisement contracts or get an opportunity to appear in a movie.
In the future, Huang also hopes to secure a scholarship to further her studies overseas, but in the meantime, she will continue working hard to perfect her abilities in the modelling world.
She, however, was quick to point out that her modelling career would not stand in the of further studies. “I feel proud of myself, but I still have to keep on working hard. I made a deal with my mother that I should continue with my school even if I go into modelling,” said Huang.
