Recognised and nominated for Top Cop Award

DOUGLASDALE– Read to see who is in the running for the Top Cop Award for October.

The Top Cop Award was put in place to honour, acknowledge and reward the police officers and members of Douglasdale Police Station for the work that they do to serve the community.

Nominated for Best Support award, Celia Rampheri, a cleaner at the station said she was happy to be nominated. “I would like to thank the station for showing me how much they value me,” Rampheri said.

She added that even though she was a cleaner, she was grateful to know that the station recognised her work as she strove every day to keep the station clean.

“I believe that everyone has a role that they play at the station and we all strive to give the community the best service,” she remarked.

“Should I win, I plan to buy my children school uniforms and will also buy food for Christmas.”

According to Captain Cloete, Douglasdale Police Station consists of one building and 10 park homes.

“Above and beyond the police officers who are permanently available to the public, there’s also continuous movement of community members through these buildings. Rampheri maintains the neatness of all these buildings as well as keeps the grounds clean,” Cloete said.

“Rampheri is not permanently employed by the police but gets paid by the Community Policing Forum (CPF) to assist the police in maintaining the cleanliness of the station and surrounding grounds.”

Cloete further added that once Rampheri has completed her cleaning duties, the day was not done for her. “She will be found in the accident office, or administrative building, helping others with filing their paperwork.

“She is a person who can be relied on to clean and maintains a professional and happy approach to all.”
