Top Cop Awards is an exciting initiative that allows the community an opportunity to nominate and vote for South African Police officers from the Douglasdale Police Station who they believe have excelled in the line of duty.
Best Vispol (external) nominee is Constable Leonard Mabusha, who is said to be a dedicated Echo Relief member who works at the South African Police sectors.
“It really feels good to be nominated as it motivates me that my colleagues can see and acknowledge my efforts to help out in the community,” Mabusha said.
He added that being nominated for Top Cop motivated him to work a bit harder to ensure that the community stays crime-free. “When you are a cop, all you can do is help out and serve the community. Although you cannot make everyone happy, it is just good to see that we, as cops, try our best to keep the community safe.
“If I win Top Cop, I plan to share the money with my colleagues; it’s all about team building and plus, it will serve as a good Christmas gift,” Mabusha quipped.
Talking on his experience with Mabusha, Captain Karen Jacobs said Mabusha is always willing to assist members of the community and his co-workers. “Mabusha is very reliable and when asked to perform any task given, he is always there to fulfil it,” Jacobs said and added that Mabusha is always on time, is approachable and wears his uniform neatly.
“Once Mabusha has completed his outside duties, he stops at the client service centre to assist members of the community. He is a very friendly person and sees the need for making community members his first priority,” Jacobs explained.
