Junior College Fourways celebrated Valentine’s Day by sharing the love with some furry friends from the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), while Junior College Gardens let schoolchildren do the same with arts and crafts.

To mark the international day of love, the school in Fourways asked the schoolchildren to bring in packs of dog and cat food, which was then donated to the SPCA.

“The kids really enjoyed handing over all the food collected for the animals [to the SPCA],” said Elizabeth Jooste, the principal of Junior College Fourways.

This was only one of the school’s activities for the day. They also held the school’s annual Valentine’s Day parade, which gave every child the chance to show off their cute Valentine’s outfits by modelling, or crawling, down the special Valentine’s Day runway.

Meanwhile, their sister school, Junior Colleges Fourways, also joined in on the fun. The school was decorated in red, white and pink, and both schoolchildren and teachers were spoiled with sweet treat gifts from some of the parents.

The children also spent part of the day making special, handmade ‘rose’ cards to give to their sweethearts – mom and dad.
