Community members have been urged to download the Joburg Roads Agency (JRA) mobile Find&Fix App.
According to Jean Berdou, board member of Future City Fourways (FCF), the app can assist the community to report any road issues they might have.
“On behalf of Future City Fourways, we encourage the community to download the Mobile Find&Fix app, as this will help keep our precinct and our city better maintained,” Berdou said.
He said if community members see potholes, damaged road infrastructure, or traffic or street lights not working, they can take a picture, indicate the location on the app and report the problem by submitting the information to the agency.
“You will receive a tracking number and you can keep tabs on repairs and follow up with the agency. If the matter is not dealt with, FCF will also report on your behalf and will help assist with the tracking progress. Let us make a better precinct and city together,” Berdou said.
According to the agency’s spokesperson Bertha Peters-Scheepers, the City of Joburg’s population is constantly growing. “As the City’s roads authority, this ever-growing population means the agency must always be at the forefront of innovation and community engagement – empowering citizens to be our eyes and ears everywhere to report road-related issues,” Peters-Scheepers said.
The app was developed to make the agency reachable and enhance customer service. It allows road users to report road-related defects at the click of a button. It was developed in 2014 and has user-friendly features that enable road users to take a photo, register the location and notify the agency of potholes, missing manhole covers, weeds growing on the road, defective traffic signals and other related infrastructure faults for urgent attention.
To download the app, smartphones should operate on Windows Phone 8, Android or iOS. If you are not familiar with downloading apps, you can view how to download free android apps to your smartphone on the agency’s website.
