The dance team was the only South African team who competed in the world championships in the Czech Republic in July. More than twenty countries took part in the competition, including the United States of America, Canada, Greece, India, Israel, Belgium, Turkey and South Africa.
“The team had the amazing opportunity to perform and compete in the Prague National Theatre, where they won five trophies, which they have brought back to South Africa as evidence of their fine performance and outstanding achievement in the international competition,” said Field.
“The South African team won the most trophies, including the prestigious Participants Award for being voted as the best team and country by all participating teams.”
With dance choreographers, Connor Moodie (21) and Alicia Megan Hofmeyr (25) the Academy entered a South African team aged between 6 and 14. Team members won the following awards: Hip Hop, Best Individual Talent, Flower Bud (youth groups), the Participants Award and the Bidvest Trophy.
“I am extremely pleased with this year’s outstanding achievement after being accompanied by numerous teams in previous years to compete in several international dance competitions around the world, including Los Angeles, Montenegro, Italy, Barcelona and Prague among others,” concluded Field.
Auditions will open in early August for any students who wish to study any of the art forms whilst completing formal academic schooling, and auditions for the 2018 dance team that will represent South Africa on an international level will be opening shortly too.
Kim Field Academy is proud of the fact that they are one of the schools who offer cultural education as part of their school curriculum.
