Joint operation delivers 31 arrests in the Douglasdale area

DOUGLASDALE – A joint operation between Douglasdale police and Metro police resulted in an impressive number of arrests.

 

Douglasdale police arrested 31 suspects during a recent operation that was held throughout the area.

The head of communications for the Douglasdale Police Station, Captain Mpho Tshetlhane explained that the suspects were arrested for different crimes. “The crimes range from housebreaking and theft, drunken driving, possession of dagga, possession of drugs, shoplifting, reckless and negligent driving, possession of suspected stolen property and common assault.”

She stated that amongst the arrested suspects, 16 were arrested for drunk driving during the joint operation with Metro police. “We as the police take combatting crime very seriously and we would like to thank members of the community for the good working relationship as we to encourage them to keep on working together with the police.”

The suspects are scheduled to appear at Randburg Magistrates Court.

Tshetlhane concluded that they encourage members of the community to continue to report any suspicious activities in their area by contacting the police station.
