Dainfern College celebrated the outstanding academic achievements of a Grade 12 learner for his results in last year’s Cambridge International examinations in an assembly on 3 June.
Hamza Mahmood received the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Award for achieving the highest mark in the country for Cambridge International AS Level Physics in last year’s Grade 11 November exams. He also achieved four As in biology, chemistry, maths and physics.
Cambridge Studies physics teacher, Anita Hewitt expressed her pride in Hamza’s results. “Hamza has been an incredible student to work with – he is a brilliant young man who takes delight in understanding new physics concepts, and is diligent in mastering the application thereof ,” she said.
“I look forward to seeing what he can achieve in his A Level physics examination, and I will watch his future career with interest.”
In 2019, the school added Cambridge Assessment International Education to the academic offering with the addition of the Cambridge A Level programme as an optional exit examination. The international educational option is offered alongside the Independent Educational Board curriculum.
Director of Cambridge Studies Joulia Karamichael said, “This is an outstanding endorsement of the standard of the Cambridge Studies programme at Dainfern College.
She added, “Hamza’s exceptional achievement is testament of his strong work ethic, enquiring mind and will to achieve his personal best. We commend Hamza and are immensely proud of all that he has achieved to date. We look forward to his continued excellence as he prepares for his A Levels.”
