Johannesburg Water resumes major pipe repair in Steyn City to restore water

FOURWAYS – Johannesburg Water said the pipe repair operation was suspended last night due to some challenges.

Ward 96 councillor Sbusiso Mthembu said a team of Johannesburg Water was working hard to restore water in Riverside View, Steyn City and surrounding areas.

Mthembu said, “Scores of residents were left without water following a 450mm water pipe burst in Steyn City [on October 4]. “A Johannesburg Water team are currently onsite to repair a water pipe that supplies affected areas. Water tankers have been placed at strategic points to provide residents with water while the matter is being attended to.”

In a statement, Johannesburg Water said, “Due to challenges onsite, the team had to suspend repair of a major pipe burst in Steyn City last night [October 4]. We will continue with repairs this morning. Alternate supply will continue to be provided to affected areas during the course of the outage. Johannesburg Water apologises to customers for the inconvenience caused.”
