Comedian’s solo show dreams become a reality

Up-and-coming comedian gets his one-man show.
Fourways resident and rising comic Linde Sibanda is looking forward to achieving one of his comedy dreams, to host a show of his own. His debut show will premiere on April 7 at Hotel Sky Sandton and will take the audience on an adventure of how he thinks and sees the world, his personal experiences and things he feels need to be laughed about more in life.
Having been in the comedy industry since 2017, the last three years have been used to prepare for this momentous moment. Sibanda said, “It feels a bit surreal, it’s the culmination of a lot of work so the fact that it’s here after all the experiences is just crazy. One can plan for such but ultimately God decides when it’s time.”
Sibanda’s journey started in 2017 when he decided to get on stage and prove to himself that he has a knack for making people laugh. “I always had thoughts of doing comedy since my days as the class clown in primary and high school, and I was ready to give it a shot.”
Since then, he has performed at Parkers Comedy Club, Sandton Comedy Club, Kitcheners and many other platforms and stages. Sibanda thanked all those who have supported him through his journey. “God first and foremost. Mo Sam ‘Samoka’ Kadir for believing that I’m ready to do something like this. Fellow comedians who have just given such loving words of encouragement, especially Gilli Apter and Tsitsi Chiumya. Last but not least, Michelle Mari and my family – without you guys putting up with my craziness I wouldn’t be here right now,” he added.
He is now ready to give the folks of Hotel Sky Sandton a good laugh, including a story about a white lady and low GI bread. Sibanda invites those who love a good gag to come to his show. “The set will be a fresh perspective and I’m part of the new school of SA comedy. The show is family-friendly and catered towards anyone who has ears.”
