Early Easter for Fourways children

After collecting over 2 000 Easter eggs in a week, Douglasdale police officers and CPF members conducted an Easter egg drive for school-children.

Witkoppen Primary School learners received an early Easter surprise from those who protect and serve the Fourways community.

Douglasdale police visited the school and to two crèches to hand out Easter eggs to each child in every grade on April 13. The police had collected more than 2 000 eggs in one week to hand out to children in the community by keeping a box in the station where community members could drop them off.

Dougasdale Community Policing Forum also had a hand in sourcing the eggs for the children and were able to contribute some for the drive.

Principal at the school Philemon Mashimbyi said it was a welcome surprise for the learners.

“We really just want to thank Douglasdale Police Station for supporting our school. They have for many years, and we really appreciate them. Especially since we are dealing with underprivileged learners, they really help us.

“They help us with the education of our kids, so we are really thankful for the visit today,” he said.

Eggs were also distributed to children living in Bloubosrand and Kya Sands.
