Aerobics session hosted in Riverside
The Healthy Lifestyle programme is hosted in different locations in Johannesburg.
The Department of Sport and Recreation hosted an aerobics session in Riverside on August 13.

The session is part of the Healthy Lifestyle programme from the City of Johannesburg Region A. The participants were treated to two hours of aerobics, led by two different instructors. The exercises were paired with upbeat music.

Assistant director of sport and recreation for the City of Johannesburg Region A Mandla Mahlangu said, “More than anything, one thing that I appreciate about this programme is the high presence of women, I think 99% of people participating are women, and it also resonates with Women’s Day activities even though it’s a continuous programme. Most of the women are regular faces, they never fail, they always come, they are so committed, disciplined and honest.”

These continuous sessions are hosted in several locations around Johannesburg such as Midrand, Diepsloot, Ivory Park and Rabie Ridge.

“We have to prize our health above all endeavours and the level of social cohesion, there are so many people who made friends in this group,” said Mahlangu.

One of the participants, Thoko Shabalala said she participates in these sessions because it is free, for her health and because it is fun.
