Fourways Falcons netball player ready for interprovincial tournament
One local action netball player from the Fourways Falcons Action Sports Arena is ready to make her name known in the sport.
A senior action netball player is ready for the challenge of playing in an upcoming interprovincial tournament at her home court in Fourways.
While this may not be Sindiso Chabalala’s first time representing her province in the sport she is ready to take herself and her province from strength to strength.
The 26-year-old has been playing netball since primary school, and for the arena for almost three years.
“The first time I got here, everything was so crazy, and everyone was so welcoming. At the time I got here, they were doing quad series,” she said.
“I got here just in time for the quad series, and that was where I got to meet face-to-face with everyone and see how they play. From there, the experience has just been on the up and up.”
The player has been getting experience from players her age and younger in order to develop her playing skills, that is thanks to her coach and co-owner of the Fourways Action Sports Arena, Samantha de Wit. With the interprovincial tournament around the corner, Chabalala said she is feeling at ease and ready to play.
“The event is here at home at Fourways Falcons, and I think that is much better because it’s our home ground. We train, practice, and play here on a weekly basis whereas last year, we had to play in Rustenburg, and it was my first IPT then,” she said.
“This year, I’ve gotten the hang of how everything works, and it is much better than playing elsewhere. It’s a bonus playing at home.”
With her ability to play various positions on the netball court, there is a lot to look forward to in Chabalala’s future when it comes to the game, she has loved to play for all these years.
“I just want to make it into the South African side, that is my goal. I told myself that I am not going to stop playing netball until I make it into a national squad,” she said.
“Right now, I’m in the B-team, and there are absolutely amazing players who I look up to and I want to learn from them. When they play, I watch them and learn new styles from them. When I make it into a national side, I’ll know that I have made it in netball.”
