Learners raise their heads high as they breathe in water-polo

The four teams from the institution took their performance to the next level in the National Co-Ed Tournament.

Beaulieu College water polo teams played in the National Co-Ed Tournament from September 29 to October 3.

It was a milestone achievement for the school because the boys went through to the quarterfinals and placed seventh. Led by Jessica Scholtz and Timothy Ashton the girls were placed 15th. This is the second time they’ve competed in the tournament and the learners were determined to make a name for themselves.

The boys’ team made it to the quarter-finals and placed 7th.

“They train three times a week and they have a match once a week and participate in tournaments most weekends. Our teams have come from playing social water polo in 2017 to now participating in national tournaments and we couldn’t be prouder,” said Beaulieu College’s teacher, San-Mari Pretorius. “We are extremely proud of our teams for their hard work, resilience and grit. We look forward to seeing what the rest of the season brings.”

The Beaulieu College girls’ water polo team placed 15th in the tournament.

With four teams of 12, the learners gave their best performance at Reddam Helderfontein and they hope to always be better than the previous year. “They achieved a lot, and I will never stop showing them support because they and their parents should be proud,” said Pretorius.
