Steyn City School student Erin Naik wins five medals at SA Championship of Performing Arts

Erin's achievements have fueled her ambition to explore various aspects of the industry, including modeling.

With a talent that shines brighter than the spotlight, Erin Naik has proven herself to be a force to be reckoned with in the performing arts scene.

A Grade 8 student at Steyn City School, Erin recently brought home an outstanding five medals from the SA Championship of Performing Arts, surpassing her previous year’s record.

“It feels really good to have gained these achievements but I only got there with hard work and lots of support from my coaches at Upstage and ProVocals, my friends, and family. I hope to continuously improve and strive for better.

“I was also very fortunate that my school supported me throughout my journey, so, I am very thankful for everyone who walked this path with me. Bringing home these achievements, it feels like they’re shared among us all.”

Erin’s journey to success began with meticulous preparation under the guidance of her coaches at Upstage Concepts. During which, they carefully selected pieces that would be appropriate for the category and genre, and spent months rehearsing their solos and group items.

Erin Naik is hitting the high notes.

The championship experience was a thrill for Erin, who was delighted to share the stage with fellow performers. She is also very much aware of the challenges that come with pursuing her passion.

“Trying to manage schoolwork and juggling schedules does require sacrifice.”

She said her achievements have only fueled her ambition to continue excelling in the performing arts.

“Last year, I auditioned for the lead role in the major production at our school and I was thrilled to successfully land it. Since then, I was hooked. Being on stage in any format is such a thrill and I’m so grateful for the opportunities that have come my way.”

With her sights set on the future, she said she is eager to explore various aspects of the industry, with modeling being one of them.

“Earlier this year I won the regional leg on Kids with Talent SA, so I go into the finals in the upcoming weeks. I’m excited for that; it is a different format and I enjoy the competition and the chance to perform.”
