Community rallies around school boy after he’s robbed of his school things
When tragedy struck for Senzo Dube, a matric learner who lost all his study material in a armed robbery, the community came together to save his studies and replace the school materials that were so needlessly taken.
Fourways residents recently came together to make a dream come true for matric learner Senzo Dube, who was left devastated after a traumatic armed robbery.
Local individuals stepped up to provide assistance, gathering study materials, textbooks, a new school bag, and even a mathematical instrument set, all aimed at ensuring Senzo could adequately prepare for his upcoming examinations.

During this harrowing incident, Senzo was held up at gunpoint, and his school bag, containing essential textbooks, class notes, and his phone, was stolen. The loss of his study materials left him in a state of distress and uncertainty, as his final examinations were approaching.
The shocking robbery left Senzo not only without vital academic materials but also grappling with the fear and trauma of the experience. “I could’ve lost my life,” he recalled, describing the emotional fallout from the incident.
“It was not just the loss of my belongings, it was the fear and uncertainty that came with it. After the robbery, I had no way to study as all my materials were stolen.” For Senzo, the prospect of facing his finals without any study aids felt overwhelming.

However, the response from the Fourways community quickly turned despair into hope. As news of Senzo’s plight spread, after Yvonne Nolting posted on the I Love Fourways Facebook group, residents rallied to support him.
When Senzo received the material, his heartfelt gratitude was evident. “I was really happy as I could focus on my exams. It really means a lot to me because I had no way of preparing after the robbery.”
The overwhelming support not only restored his academic resources but also helped him regain confidence in himself and his studies.
“I am really happy and grateful to the people who helped me; their kindness has made a difference in my life during a very difficult time,” Senzo expressed, beaming with relief and appreciation.
